Expecting and Market Conditions are two different things as we know. Market Conditions have come down to meet expectations recently. Kinda nice, eh?

You can expect to be out within 3 years at a major. And if you're prior military flying then there's a decent chance you're right. However, training has very high standards at AWAC (which is good and bad). All it takes is one bad day equaling a failed ride and now your 3 years turns into 5 or 7 or...

Pick a regional that you won't hate working at long term. You never know what can happen in this industry.
