Default Agreement in Principle

Interesting that we get an AIP announcement today alongside UA also getting an AIP announcement.

Thoughts?

Says the Union and the company have come to an agreement that solves the upgrade problem and benefits all.

Well, it certainly helps the upgrade problem but I don’t think it solves it and while it certainly benefits everyone, it doesn’t benefit everyone equally. I’m not saying it’s a bad LOA but I am saying it’s far from perfect.

it doesn’t benefit everyone equally, the captain pay here was already close to standard, entry level FO was way way way behind the curve. Sometimes things need to benefit one group more to improve things for everyone

How does this benefit the pilot group? How will this help with upgrades? If I can recall most will get
stuck on RSV in Dayton. If they wanted an outstation base, shoulda kept CAE. It’s a much more desirable area and less expensive than DAY

It benefits the pilot group because everyone gets a raise and everyone gets a bonus. It helps with upgrades because they are now saying that forced upgrades absolutely will happen so that will obviously enable the company to get more people upgraded.

I don’t see how forced upgrades benefit the pilot group. It may ruin one’s decent QOL or what if one doesn’t feel ready? Then they’ll have a failure on their record. Or if one wants to hold out so they can skip having to go to DAY.
that doesn’t sound like a good thing for the
pilot group.

The company could already force upgrades via displacement bids if they wanted to get really mean about it. At least this way there’s carveouts if you have a life event or a serious training concern.
