Default DAY sticking around?

With the switch to American, does the Dayton base look like it will stick around? I know it’s the most junior and probably not desired for most people. I lived in Dayton for a few years when I was in the Air Force, so I’m well aware of what it’s like and wouldn’t mind being there again, at least for another short term stay.

I assume it’s a maintenance base or similar and not dependent on the carrier Air Wisconsin is contracted with, but wanted to check.

Have heard that only ORD will be the AA base initially. DAY will most likely be just a mx base

So AA switch will have the only pilot base be ORD? No more DAY and/or MKE?

The only base that is closing in the near future is IAD according to the company but they have been known to make announcements at the last possible minute so anything’s possible.

Day is staying and will be the most Junior base. Bases will be ORD, MKE, DAY. DAY and MKE being both Pilot/FA/MX bases.

What is reserve like in DAY? I don't live very far either. Looking at DEC possibly. Do they use airport ready reserve a lot? How many days off a month (12?) .. thanks in advance

I know I started the thread asking about Dayton, but how bad would the commute be from living in Chicago until one could hold either ORD or Milwaukee?

Obviously a two leg commute. I wouldn’t do it for a regional. Too many other options.

A two leg? It looks like there’s currently 6 direct flights a day from ORD to DAY. Now it’s all RJs, and surely some of that schedule will change as AW switches from United flights to American, but I believe that Dayton is still going to be served by AW under the new American contract, so there will still be some company metal moving there.

I’m a FO applicant so there actually really aren’t all that many other options in the regional industry right now.
