Default CLT pilot base?

Any chance of a CLT pilot base in the near future?

AA already runs one regional with clapped out 50 seat RJs with a base in CLT... Piedmont. AA also has PSA flying CRJ 700/900 with a base in CLT.

Plus Contour putting 145s to work that everyone else thought should go to the desert. CLT is a haven for over the hill RJs.

Was told east coast base will be either CLT or PHL. It’s looking more like PHL since we are doing more flying out of there. We are not doing anything out of CLT.

I’ve heard no rumors of a new base but anything is possible when we start flying the 700. Before anyone says “we aren’t going to fly 700s,” the company isn’t putting us through differences training just for the heck of it and there’s a reason why the new contract has a blended pay rate.

So... how's the freight flying going? They'll spend money on dumb/worthless stuff.

Management here has been telling the pilots 700s are "6 months away" for at least 8-9 years now

I'm still waiting on the big February 2006 announcement. It's going to be HUGE.

Good point. I try to forget they ever did that. Fool me once, but this time feels different to me. They’ve never spent butt loads of money putting the entire pilot group through sim training on a plane we don’t currently fly. The blended pay rate is also hard to ignore. We never had one in the past and the union was always adamant about not having one and now we suddenly have one. Why even bother wasting time negotiating back and forth on a blended pay rate if we’re only going to fly the 200?

Most folks would rather fly something other than the 200. This is nothing more than a fake carrot to get people in the door. Spending money on maybe is the Air Willy way. Never forget the Delta flying, or the freight flying, or the 25 year old 700/900 course.
