The cost of any training has to include the downtime of the instructors, who can not now be flying the line, thus requiring another pilot.

I'm sure it's not cheap.

Now I'm off for a jog at the luxurious and glamorous Best Wester of Columbus, Ohio.......

I am leaving AWAC at the end of this month, this place is a sinking ship. My primary motivation is to end the stressful commute, but I have not seen anything good happen here in the 3 plus years I've been here. US AIR has reduced our flying this summer because we have too many broken airplanes and cancelled flights due to MX. We have stopped all current and future hiring. What little upgrades we were running has come to a halt. The moral here is very very low due to so many variables to explain here. I tried to make it work here, but my future will be so much better somewhere else. Good luck to everyone else. If I had any advice for the junior FO's...GET THE HELL OUT!!! get your apps into those airlines hiring...the airline I am going to is hiring another 200-250 people for the rest of the year and upgrading like mad...I'll move up faster and have a better QOL....cya out there

The forums are all doom and gloom. It always breaks my heart to read what people write. I just finished my checkride at AWAC (new hire training), as well as my ENTIRE class and there are CA upgrades here like crazy in CLT. I can't believe some of the things I am hearing here. There has been no such crazy talk from anyone in my class, nor from any of our instructors.

AGREED!! I had an overnight in CLT last week and rode back to hotel with two new hires leaving the training center. They were almost done with sim. I came down for a snack a little later and the lobby had a group of AWAC newhires/pilots studying.

As for Airways pulling our flying...from what I have seen it has just been a line or two, to help get our performance back up. Not the end of the world! I don't know one airline that can run a schedule utilizing almost all their aircraft without spares.
