Your point of view has the right idea but you contradict yourself at the time. Is it a year or more or just a few months? At this point there is a still a year before the flying with AA ends so there's still plenty of time.

If they do announce something worthwhile in the next few days, weeks, months, it will potentially open the doors for a flood of new hires. Same thing that happened at PSA and PDT.

And as for AA suing AWAC, unlikely. They already do half the departures they did just a few months ago but there's no word of any lawsuits floating around.

Doug Parker could sue just out of spite...that US Airways deal in 2005 has been loathed for years.

Do you have any details on the CPA extension? What makes you think there isn't any phase in/out language for 70 Ac worth of flying. When they inked the 2005 deal, it was written that 70 aircraft would be parked all on the same day?

Seems like they could easily leave the leased aircraft on the AA contract and bid flying for the owened 200's. Then phase in a new type while planning to return the leased 50's at the end of 17. Earlier than expected relief doesn't have to result in a lawsuit just re-negotiations.

I think Scot Kirby going to United was the single biggest thing that happened for AWAC, he loves RJ's and has canceled their 73 latest order to max out scope. We all know how this story ends, with AWAC getting a new CPA with United based on some contract concessions and new bonus money. At least the pilots will have a choice in the matter.

The key word people leave out is "try" when talking about suing another person/company. I can try to sue my neighbor because his kid plays nickleback songs too loud on some old drum set. Probably not going to pan out to anything except having a angry neighbor.

It's going to take more than just a deal to do some flying. The flood gates at the WOs didn't open until the management through serious coin at the new hires. Before the money showed up things were at a trickle...and that was a year ago.

They already announced pay increases and incentives/bonuses. Lots of fine print involved, but the pay is comparable. That said, the hole they've dug is so deep that even with a new flying contract it's going to be difficult to staff the airline. I guess we'll see.

Where did I say "just a deal?" I said "if they announce something worthwhile."

Deal, pay, flow, interviews, whatever combination of any, if any.

When I said a few months, I meant when the AA flying ends, and there's a few months of zero flying while a new fleet or whatever else is brought online.

Okay, again, that's still a year away. A lot happens in a year. I really doubt they are going to wait to announce anything, if there is anything to announce, the day AA flying ends.
