Dec 4th class,AWAC 1 out of 6 made it.
Here is the story:
Everyone makes it thru INDOC. One guy doesn't show up again after Systems. Now down to 5. Myself and my sim partner get 9 sessions (sim broke for one) and TJ says wait for more sim scheduling. A month goes by before they give me more time, 5 sessions. So it takes a session or 2 to get back where I was, proficiency wise, and then have 2 more sessions then they give me a evaluation. They send my sim partner and I home. A few days later I get a call to resign. So does my sim partner, so does the last guy in the class who only was given 9 sessions: Anyone have any insight on why a company would be on a hiring frenzy but then not work with those that need a little extra training? And how is AWAC going to get sim time for 50 people if they can't even seem to find time for 6 people?

Im sorry to hear you didn't make it through. How close were you to check ride after the 13 sessions? (Call it 11 to be fair)
My personal experience. Full 10 to just get signed off, check ride rescheduled for 3 weeks later. Snowed out of CLT, wait for 3 more weeks. 2 sessions to get up to speed and ck ride.
My personal feeling is they felt some areas weren't where they should be at that point and cut their losses. I washed out of a certain 135 operators training and its a crappy feeling. Dust yourself off and learn from the experience. Best of luck to you.

Probably about 2 or 3 more sessions and I think I would have been ready for the Checkride. But what is frustrating is they don't give me any reason why they let me go and my instructor won't answer his text or phone calls to give me any feedback on what went wrong. Anyway, I'm dusted off and moving on.

Just a few notes:
1) There is always 2 sides to every story. Everyone's definition of how good they are doing is subject to perception. Yes, I have had students in years past on sim 15 who's steep turns were +/- 500' and whose V1 cuts were +/-60 degrees with stick shakers in between who thought they were doing 'really good'. But I have also had good students that only needed a few more sims who were asked to resign.
2) Decisions on making people resign are made by ATW with input from the person who did your Eval. An instructor can tell ATW how beautiful you are, how good you smell, and how much potential you have to be a good employee, but at the end of the day, that moment in time during your eval is what matters. So in other words, your instructor should have told you what you were good at and what you were not good at during the post sim session debrief, not after yu were asked to resign. If I would have been your instructor, yes, I probably would have answered. But if its more than 24hrs past the last session I probably won't remember. You could have rocked the sim with me, but if you sucked in the eval that's on you.
We have a good group of instructors here. I teach because I like to. I don't get a financial or schedule benefit from doing so. However, I am not your primary flight instructor helping you get your private. You are NOT paying us as you would a regular instructor and you are not our customer, so therefore, the dynamic changes a bit. For me as a 121 instructor, I will make sure that I provide you with the tools, the knowledge, and the explanations that you need to help you perform the maneuvers. I will also dedicate the time that you and your partner need. However, you are all Commercially certificated pilots. We are not here to baby you, and tell you that everything is going to be ok. You are a pilot and thus are expected to perform.
FYI to all, times are so different. When I came through as a new hire you were the problem child if you took any more than 9 sims + checkride. I am an average pilot, not bad at all but not God's gift to aviation either. We do train to proficiency for new hires, not AQP. If I did my checkride on day 8, trust me anyone else can do it. And yes 99.6% of my total time before here was flight instructing on 172's. Time and time again I have seen the company give ample of extra sessions to people. Please look at my posting history, I am not a company cheerleader in any way. But trust me, AWAC is extremely lenient and fair when it comes to new hires.
Again, I do not know you, and I don't know your story, but I just wanted to throw some facts out there for all.
