Commute got into DC at 9am. Sat for an hour for a gate. 1345 to PHL leaves at 1650. Get deiced and PHL ground stops. Absolutely stupid. Is it really going to F up your pathetic operation and airport to let ONE plane from 100 miles away come in that's literally at the runway?
After 2.5 were reboarding now. Of course canceling and repoing to PWM makes too much sense at this point.

Exactly the same here. Second attempt and actually get airborne this time, DC-PHL, and we receive an ACARs telling us to go back to DC as the ramp and taxiways are NIL. Just unreal. You really didn't know that information 10 minutes prior to us taking off?

Based on that logic they shouldn't have canceled any of the other 161 flights we did today then.
All I'm saying is there comes a point you have to be smart enough to know it's futile to continue trying. It was pretty obvious this had an extremely slim chance of completing.
If they had pulled the plug on this earlier, we could have repoed to PWM. Now you don't have a plane for tomorrow mornings flight, screwing over even more pax. It's just stupid

My schedule:
DH ORF -> PHL
DH PHL -> YYZ
YYZ -> PHL
DH PHL->DCA
DCA -> ORF
I'm DCA based.
My flight from PHL to YYZ was continuously delayed by 20 mins increments for 7 hours. Boarded, 1 hour until deice/antiice completion. LOB cookie time. Then moderate freezing rain, ramp became nil. Was stuck in the plane until the end of the 3 hour LOB delay where we got a shuttle back to the gate. Now I'm deadheading back to base. Very productive day.
