Do you know why Alaska FAs get holiday pay?

Because they called in sick so much on holidays that the company was forced to give it to them. Things that make you go hmmm.

It also guarantees the super senoras will pick up/trade for the time.

This pilot group has no backbone.

We have guys tripping over themselves to accomplish the mission and/or pick up premium trips.

Making cabin PAs, not wearing the lanyard, not reading E-Mails from the MEC, not voting, not contacting their reps, not filing grievances, & believing everything management & TK tell them.

They are beyond apathetic, but at the same time whine about how the "union" should do this or that.

Each pilot needs to look in the mirror.

We have too many selfish Kool-Aid types among us.

Well you are about to get 1,000 pilots that do not buy into of that crap.

I'm getting sick of hearing VX act holier than thou and slinging mud our way. Your side has plenty of yes men picking up open time and working on vacation or just outright selling it and whoring themselfs out. Your premium pay emails get covered fast. We aren't perfect and have long ways to go but your side came in with no contract and no future. They hemorraghed cash and lost more than they ever earned. You had nothing and this merger gives you a 5th place contract which is much better than what you would have gotten if you stood alone. Stop attacking us and work together for a change.

From where? If you are referring to VX, I thought there were only about 700 pilots there who had never negotiated a contract on there own. Maybe you know something I don’t?

Well, we just caved on the lanyards.

...and I'm not blaming the MEC or the joint negotiating committee.

I blame the weak pilots who didn't believe in wearing them.

Can someone explain to me how switching to blue does NOT constitute caving/rolling over/etc to management's demands? Because ALPA seems to be painting this as some kind of win for us, or at least not a loss. ALPA can rationalize it however they want until the cows come home by saying that "blue sends the same message of unity" but at the end of the day, TK/management told us the orange needed to go and that it could be replaced by the blue even though they had no contractual basis to stand on and no legal avenues through which to discipline us for non-compliance, we pouted for a little while and posted lots of orange memes and pretended to be rebellious bad-a$$es, and now not even two weeks later they got what they wanted and the orange is gone, just like that.

ALPA wants us to believe that wearing the blue will send the same message, but the blue one is the one that's explicitly approved by the manuals, and plus it matches the uniform! The whole point of the orange, as I see it, was that it clashes horribly with both navy blue and dark grey/black. And all of this nonsense culminates in... drum roll... us filing a grievance?? Oh wow I bet management is really shaking in their boots now!! At least this stupid charade is over and we can get back to whining about things that matter, such as literally anything else.

A lot of these guys have decades of experience at other alpa carriers, have seen multiple contract negotiation cycles, and have more backbone than you think.

And we actually had holiday pay up until we adopted your awesome contract.

The latest bridge email also stated that a chief’s wife harassed a pilot about his lanyard. Anyone know what base that was in?
