Correct. Last number I heard was somewhere between 200 and 250 for the year. Quite a ways down from their 400 number they initially told us.

I'd be happy being acquired by any of the 4 large airlines. Just not Spirit/JetBlue/Allegiant/Frontier, please.

The ANC BCP sent out a message yesterday about hiring.

Basically, he stated that ALK is going to show its first loss in 7 years. Management has decided to push certain costs down the road and slow growth by 4% for the year. This means that the aggressive hiring at the start of this year has already put us at the new goal. So, the decision has been made to suspend recruiting events and interviews until further notice... potentially for the rest of 2018. He said that he is going to hold off on meet & greets. He finished his E-Mail by saying that 9 pilots have resigned so far this year.

It would be nice for all the pilot group to get a memo on the pilot web page about the state of hiring.

Anyway, I've seen this movie before. They slow down / stop hiring and then it comes back to bite them in the a$$ later. Just watch. It will happen.

Me too. It also seems like that has to happen eventually because I don’t think we can survive on our own.

Alaska Mgmt used to think that codeshare with everyone except Delta was the way ahead....... what’s changed except for encouraging Delta to just grow a hub in SEA rather than limiting dance partners?

Delta should buy us.

That sounds like wishful thinking. Why wouldn’t they just bleed you dry instead?

Why not jetBlue? It would still make us #5 largest and be a strong presence on the west and east coast.

Unfortunately Asshat 1 (BT) and Asshat 2 (BM) have more than likely sabotaged any possible DOJ approval of merger with any of the big 4...with the VX thing. But atleast they got their Millions in bonus money and will at some point be able to punch out with their golden parachutes.

Because I'd rather see the AS pilot contract die in an integration with a company with a real scope clause, real work rules, real scheduling, and better pay. JetBlue doesn't help with those things.

I'm so confused why ANC chief pilot would send out an email, but not a peep from out lead chief SD or any one else in the other 3 pilot domiciles.

No worries, they will just blame it on the pilot shortage, just like all the other regionals do.
