Instructor, FCF, BCP, High credit pluse premium each month. Work a significant amount of premium vacation months... they all will get you there.

Yes but one of the above was what I do to make the #.

Try 216 x 85 x 10(prior to arbitration)183,600+(251 x 85 x 2)42,670
= 226,270 plus pbp 18000 = 244,270....
Anymore than that and you were a company guy flying premium while we were attempting to negotiate....How about it MEA

Thank you. Any captain making $ 329k/yr at ALK is doing it on the backs of his piers.

Mea25000 03-11-2018 09:19 PM

Oh I get it... so if you work a lot at SWA and game the system and bring home 348,XXX you are a stud working for a great company...but if you got a good gig at Alaska and make 329,XXX well you suck and are a scab and your company sucks too of corse.

SWA CA
8 mos 85 hours x 249 = 169,320
4 mos 85 hours x 258 = 87,720
= 257,040
Bonus 30,844

=287,884

Any SWA captain making more then 287,884 is making it on the backs of all the rest of the SWA pilot group! right???

And I should make 379,000. I just got off the phone with him and he said he would gladly take my W2 for both years if I gave him my A plan. I said throw in your scheduling package and I will think about it... the more I think about it the less convinced I really want to trade. In 25 years we can check back, I honestly hope he does better, he is a great guy. But we will both have done OK.

Shy is an idiot to leave ALK... He will have a great career here. 8/10 FO’s on the VX side are trying to leave ALK.... I am sorry, that is a lie. Grow up we all have good jobs in the end someone will have a better one but we will all be fine.

2020 negotiate some improvements, my buddy says he would like to pattern bargain on top of us for a change!
Oh and he says every cranky SWA FO is leaving for Delta because SWA sucks!

The biggest flaw in your argument is that only an ever shrinking subset of our pilot group are getting a pension. Meanwhile, every SW pilot has vastly better scheduling and vacation sections...

Shy isn’t an idiot. He’s a Jfk based VXer with an anylitcal perspective. 8/10 is probably pretty accurate in JFK. A lot of those guys live in base or have short commutes. If you just got bought and your new suitor was going to be shutting down SEA soon the mood might change a bit in gig harbor.

I have buddies at ever major airline. There are great things if you pick and choose at each and every carrier.
You hear stories about an FO at Delta that made 400,000 and we make it every FO. The #1 FO at SWA in DAL stories... well it’s always changing I hear 350,000- to 600,000, I guess you pick the fish story. There are always exceptions and those who really game the system. There is always someone who has a better deal then you. So I will get flogged for this but let me post numbers I know to be true...

A good friend of mine at SWA made 348,XXX in 2017 he had on average 2.5 more days a month then I so yes I would prefer his company’s scheduling package.

I made 329,XXX in 2017

Well SWA wasn’t in negotiations in 2017, and also had a much higher hourly rate, so yes...if you were making $216 an hour for the majority of 2017 and ended up with that on your W2 you were undermining our negotiating committee by flying tons of premium. Trust me, BM wishes we had more like you on the line.

Klsytakesit 03-12-2018 05:31 AM

It is not a “mine is bigger than yours” contest MEA. I have been at Alaska longer than you. I have been a captain longer than you. Until Nov 2017 making more than 200K a year required substantial degradation in quality of life and time off. Something I never did. We have been in a continuous, contentious negotiating cycle since 2005. SWA has not. Making honest and accurate comparisons between work groups is much more beneficial to us all.

You clearly don't understand SWA pay. Nobody credits 85. Not even reserves.

He’s converting TFP to hourly so his pay rate numbers are correct.
