ST is negotiating directly with the VX pilots, they are the only ones that gain much more then a penny in this whole thing. He is asking you hardcore cobras to sign off on something you will eventually get for free, in exchange for a HUGE give. Divide and conquer! He is trying to save the company millions in exchange for nothing. I guess we will quickly see how many sellouts we have over there, how many guys and gals all willing to sellout the next round of new hires at Alaska. Talk is cheap. Make them open that SEA Airbus base and MAX base, it will cost a fortune! They think we are all stupid!

MEA posts a lot of good, relevant information that obviously comes from the inside. You just have to take that sometimes unpopular information with the obvious truth that he is an Angle Lake disciple to his core.

Is anyone actually reading anything from the MEC? It will probably be years until we have a contract and until then there is nothing to stop the majority of growth from being regional airplanes.
Even if we do get scope when we get a TA it won’t put all the regional airplanes they are about to add back in the bottle. It’s already 94. There’s no way we’ll get 320 mainline airframes.

You may be underestimating customer resistance. In the late 1950$ one of the best airliners around was the Lockheed Electra. Unfortunately it had a harmonic vibration problem that lead to the wings snapping off two of them in cruise. It was an easy fix - a little stiffening and reinforcing in the spar and engine mount to change the vibration frequency - and the problem was solved. Except 5here was a new problem. People wouldn’t fly in them. Eventually they shut down production of the passenger version because people just wouldn’t fly in them. Most of the pax models were eventually converted to cargo, or sold to foreign militaries, and the US Navy loved it as the P-3. They still fly out of Whidbey NAS. It’s actually still a great aircraft for a lot of things.
But those two accidents doomed them as pax aircraft.

The Jet age doomed the Electra. The crashes was just icing on its failure. 2 crashes aren’t new to the 737. Rudder hardovers crashed a United 737 at COS and a US Air 737 at PIT. And nearly an Eastwind in Carolina. 2 fatal crashes but they found and fixed the problem and the 737 did just fine for years since.
The MAX will be just fine. And people will fly them, although for the first 6 months or so airlines will offer people free changes to a NG/Airbus. But as time passes and people see this thing is safe, they won’t care.

Base within a base....they begged for it so that they could start ETOPS- Answer was no. TDY.....They have begged for it 2 different times- Answer was no Training freeze/seat lock....They have asked for it and tried to craftily implement it- Answer was no and a grievance. This with the most favorable management friendly MEC’s....A joke that Shane Tackett even suggests it.....He is one crafty little weasel. But the lad is out of touch. And he drops the PBS word as if anyone would give a red cent for it...Of course Ben Minicucci is fond of the 321NEO and says so frequently....even suggesting that a fleet between 50 and 75 airframes would be very good for Alaska....

I know for a fact that if it where not for the VX union reps and their committees that fought hard against the legacy AS reps at the time. That scope and many other items would never have made into the JCBA. And only for them we are now in the process of pushing hard for scope and many other items. Today we have a very strong union leadership and one we can all be proud of and confident that they will push for what is rightfully ours and nothing less, an industry leading CBA. That union is made up of both legacy Alaska and VX pilots who now call themselves Alaska pilots.
You may think you know what you are talking about [MOD EDIT]
Most AS pilots I meet are very up to date with what needs to be fixed and are unified together as one group. We have power and are in a good position to use it.
As for thoughts attrition, and the fact you seem to think that it will jot affect AS. triple the sick calls on the AB and doubloon the 737. Caused a big issue. The majors have only just begun to hire and in big #s this year and moving forward. SWA used to be the place to go with a line out the door and pilots trying 2-3 times to get hire. It suddenly became a place that pilots stopped showing up for class and pilots leaving. It can happen here.
