A Very Disappointed Chief..
“I just wanted to let you know that I am very happy to see that you have gotten vaccinated in order to protect yourself and others against Covid-19. However, I am curious as to why you decided to get vaccinated on a day that you are starting a string of reserve days, and not one of the last four that you had off. Also, you chose to get vaccinated on a day where you know you’d have to get Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off due to the 48-hour no fly policy put in place by the FAA. I hope you know that in doing this, your brothers and sisters on the line will have to make up for your absence and will have their schedules stressed even more. Please know that this is what disappoints me the most with your decision you made on the timing of getting yourself vaccinated. I could never in a million years let my team down like that. I hope that you have a safe and healthy holiday season. With Disappointment, An utterly disgusting email sent from the sfo chief pilot.. hostile work environment case written all over it. Should be removed immediately for this blatant abuse of power and inability to control emotions. Think about the field day the news would have if they found out Alaska airlines discourages employees to get vaccinated unless it fits into Alaska’s timeline of appropriateness….. anyone considering coming here be warned that this is a very clear example of the condescending way you will be treated during your time at our airline. discuss |
That email is a total disgrace. It goes against they’re inclusive work environment that they’re trying to shove up everyone’s you know what. They either want people jabbed or not. The entire airline is a big pig with lipstick. Yes, everyone considering coming here, be warned.

Could be a number of reasons why they decided to do it when they did, and not a single one of them is the companies business. BCP response is threatening, inappropriate, and in poor taste given the beginning another “surge” of another variant.
she basically said, if you want to protect yourself and others against covid-19 then do it on your own time. Alaska doesn’t have time for you to care about the general public nor your family.

Is it true? Or that's the only time you could get vaccinated?

When/where/how this vaccination was administered cannot be in challenged in this situation. Was it a strategic move on part of the person in question? Quite possibly but it doesn't matter, legally. However, everything about this email has lawsuit, harassment, hostile work environment, abusive power, conduct unbecoming of management, etc. written all over it, especially considering whom and where it came from. This email is very passive aggressive in nature and more importantly, unprofessional. Appears it was written without any forethought and out of anger and vindictiveness; definitely not from someone who should be management that deals directly with the pilot group. At the end of the day, this airline deserves the pilot group it has created.

Clearly not, the CP mentions 4 days off. Sounds like an obvious planned maneuver to get Christmas off at home at lower seniority. For a union job with promotion purely based on seniority, sure I get it. But outside of that, and surely in the military, you could expect at least a stern carpet dance.

Put down your pitchforks for a minute and recognize that doxxing on a public forum is not an appropriate way to handle the situation.
