Thats what pilots do, try and game the system.
Some are better then others, this one is blatant, a blue falcon too.
Still difficult to prove though.

Probably best to delete this entire thread. I might be wrong but somewhere on APC some guys said they were going to do this exact thing.

Maybe the company should have negotiated an agreement with the union regarding vaccines. They could have outlined the way they would have liked it to be implemented and in turn provided adequate compensation. Gaming the system or not, absent an accepted agreement or program structure they will sleep in the bed that they made.

The end justifies the means heh?

Base chief still thinks there are “team mates” at this airline. Thankfully, there are not and never have been. So some bizarre allegiance to people you dont know, likely will never know and have no business planning your personal life around is just bizarre. The term “team mate” out side of sports is used to fuzzy up the line and get people to carry a little more load for free…This pilot likely was guilted into a decision they did not want to make by the very same base chief…Alaska Airlines…you asked for it, you got….typical narcissistic behavior by Alaska Airlines……That letter has made the rounds to pilots at every US carrier and many others…Bravo

The timing is irrelevant. Alaska is pushing getting vaccinated and a new strain popped up over thanksgiving. World dives into hysteria again. The person in question says “oh boy look, this could be bad, I better get the shot.” Books first available appointment. 23 December, oh darn timing isn’t great but Mr Fauci and Mr Biden says it’ll be a winter of severe illness and death if I don’t get it.

as the above poster mentioned, the company lies in the bed the made without coming to an agreement as other airlines did.

BCP out of anger and frustration puts into writing what should have been said over the phone if they didn’t want it to get out. An already angry pilot group tired of managements backhanded treatment and poor working conditions becomes “unhinged” further.

these are problems that Alaska management has created for themselves

Ha. You made it about politics. Everyone needs to get off the internet for a while. You've lost your damn minds.

If they were intellectually honest their “value statement would read:

DO THE RIGHT THING (when it’s convenient for us)

Its accurate, and this situation is a perfect example. Maybe they were gaming the system. Zero way to prove that given, lockdowns, Omicron spike, airlines canceling purportedly due to Omicron. Etc. PLUS….just for context, the company will and does REGULARLY game the system and then just says the standard “grieve and fly”.

Plus, honestly, I’d be willing to bet that letter was vetted further up the COC. But when it comes to HR issues, flight Ops management regularly shoots from the hip and then tries to put the paste back in the tube. Anyone that takes one of those jobs absolutely knows they are selling their soul.

It’s not about politics, that’s what they said about the new variant. Strong words that likely sway people who have been hesitant to get vaccinated. But you can’t threaten people at work when they heed the warning and take the advice..

I toe the line here a lot. I can/will/do game the system when I can. I think a lot of us do. The house wins so much, it is nice to get a winning hand once in a while. HOWEVER. This pilot knew exactly what he/she was doing, and IMHO it was a low blow. I don't agree with the email tone and approach but this pilot deserves a little berating. You know darn well you can't fly for 48 hours after getting the vaccine. Get it on your time off for call in sick! Of course pulling some foolery to get Christmas off is gonna send a red flag up the chain...

That being said, this pilot is in a lot more trouble now that he/she sent screenshots of it that have ended up everywhere.

Showed it to my lawyer and my union rep…and my consigliere…No idea how it got out in the big world
