Default CA Rest/Meal break issue resolved

The previous thread was closed, so here's a new one. Governor Nuisance signed a bill effective immediately CA law will exempt CA-based FAs from the state's meal and rest break rules if the FAs are covered by a CBA that addresses rest breaks.

And to think, some thought we'd augment flight crews on a transcon to New York. There was a far, far cheaper solution: lobby politicians to get an exemption.

When will it be expanded to include pilots? It effectively already does but as it’s written it seems oddly specific

I guess we aren't going to close all of the California bases. So much for the APC legal team.

I can assure you that it will be interpreted that way. CA is not in a position to force thousands of very high paying union jobs to LAS and PHX.

I agree. Odd they specified cabin crew unless the state doesn’t realize there’s a difference

The original lawsuit was specific to cabin crew. It created a precedent which could have very easily been extended to flight crew, but this law should deter anyone from wasting their time on that.

Nice. Where does this put Delta with their non-union FA’s? Should be interesting to see how that plays out!

What a colassal waste of time, money and resources.
Par for the course in California. No wonder so many businesses are fleeing. Record surplus to record deficit in 1 year.

Do you blame employees, businesses or government for this “colossal waste of time?”
