Default Anchorage Seniority & Projected Movement?

Am I correct in thinking movement on the Anchorage seniority list will be slow going?

- It looks like one more ANC retirement this year, then single digits for many years
- Not counting on growth
- Don't see other landing spots in ANC if someone wants to bail and stay here
- No idea how many FOs will take upgrades out of base

Am I missing any other assumptions or looking at this wrong?

That about sums it up. If you’re bored you can look at the bid summary, log, etc, and get an idea of how FOs ahead of you are bidding for CA spots. Hopefully with the freighters coming on line ANC will get some more flying. Apparently before COVID it was taking a couple years to hold ANC. Hopefully it won’t be that glacial.

Alaska is a changing landscape with the oil boom drying up. The Dems want electric which means lithium not oil, which leaves Alaska a dying landscape. Hopefully the cargo picks up some slack, but if you there and are based there expect some slow growth…

There isn’t much in the way of growth in any of the bases. Alaska is not a place you should expect rapid seniority movement or career progression.

So 4ish year upgrade is much too long for you? Let me remind you it wasn’t long ago that places like UA, AA, WN, had 10-15+yr upgrades…

Sure UA is hiring street captains right now, so sure go ahead and apply, see how that works out for ya Here’s a secret though; there’s a reason why…

Lithium isn’t replacing oil for decades. Oil isn’t going anywhere any time soon. High oil prices actually makes drilling for oil on the slope make more sense.

It looks like the next administration will. Objective observation, I didn't vote for either of them.

I tend to agree that oil isn't going anywhere any time soon. Especially domestic oil, try cutting that and OPEC will extort your arse to high heaven and you'll get voted out of office by broke consumers. Exhibit A in about one year.
