of course they weren't going to say that and rock the boat uneccesarily with their first announcement. Alaska and Hawaiian have very loyal bases in their respective fortresses. Don't plop that frog in boiling water....put it in some lukewarm water so it doesn't realize it's being boiled. The time will come to announce "consolidation."

But make no mistake, the whole idea of a merger is to create effeciency and "synergize" the operation.

Put another way: If they planned to keep everything the same...separate airlines, separate employee groups, a bunch of airplane types....why merge at all?

The Hawaiian brand will probably be used on inter island flying. What they need is a new brand that doesn't restrict them to being associated with a certain state. Luckily they are still paying Richard Branson for the right to use Virgin!

Unfortunately, I don't know much about Alaska Airlines. I was hoping we could start a discussion about general morale, the new(ish) contract, work rules and anything else you want to get off your chest re: our new pilot group.

Welcome!
Some of my favorite people are HAL pilots, awesome people great sticks. Congratulations to all of us, I think this combination is a winner. I’m excited for all of our futures. I believe the new airlines name will end up being HAWAIIAN AIRLINES with Alaska remaining on the regional fleet of 175s. Hawaiian Airlines is now a destination airline, even with UAL’s SEA base. 😂😂😂.

This isn’t a perfect airline, no airline is. I think when you look back 20 years from now, thankful will be the words you use!

Cheers🥃🥃🥃

Current fleet plan
415 73NG/MAX
40-50 787
330 sticky may be around longer then some expect
321 retired quickly… 3 years max
717 not to far behind
120 E175’s

It will all be merged except the HAL brand and some paint jobs. They already said that, common sales platform with two brands.

It would ludicrous to try to use the AS brand on much of the HAL market.

People Express might be available. Braniff? Hooters Air?

Getting to the nitty gritty, what is the current upgrade times in the 737s at Alaska? Can you break by base to date if hire? Alaska is the only airline that would respect and value our brand, so feeling thankful through the malaised uncertainty.

Cheers!

4.5 years, this will increase with the merger. Out the back end growth will increase significantly and you will no longer worry about upgrade times. 3.5 years until you will be able to bid on the AS side. By then you will hold CA in any base you want!

SEA 5.5
SFO 4.5
PDX 7
ANC 7
LAX 6
thats the dirty from memory… but really close
HNL will be the only base fenced for probably 4-5 years… it’s gonna be good… really really good. Unless you live on the east coast 😂

Trans World Airlines has a good reputation around the world. You think AA would give it up?

AS has checked into PanAm… 🤔 I never heard the verdict on it. May still be in play. The plan was to use the PanAm name and use both the HA hula girl and AS Eskimo on the tails
