How tough would a commute be between SLC and any of the lower 48 bases?

I know a lot of guys who do that commute. It’s not impossible but it doesn’t seem like fun. You’d be junior to all of them so it might be rough getting on from time to time.

Jumpseat is first come, first serve.

the jumpseat is first come first serve, but there are also guppy CAs who denies to take any jump seaters.
you can list as commuter who has almost the highest non rev priority, but that’s base on seniority between pilots.

Gotta call BS on that. Some senior captains that are no longer here had a habit (very bad one) Of not taking any. But very rare. Some (very very few) will not take 2nd JS for reasons of comfort and or space for seat position. I’m a commuter and will always bend over backwards to get all JS and NR on, and so will almost everyone else. If you’ve seen something different let your JS committee know

Just wanna point out how commuter unfriendly it is. It’s in the FOM that CA can denied taking JS for ‘no reason’.

That's a good thing. It's the Captain's aircraft and they should have the final say without any second guessing.

I commute too and I've never been denied the jumpseat.
