A really smart guy I know, been here forever, said a year ago we would one day wish we'd just taken the FedEx mailer offer from 2+ years ago; we all laughed.....

Yeah that is pretty much settled at this point that we lost that one. We would have been much better off just accepting the mailer rates and direct contribution. Just the three years of DC and not counting any of the increases to the rates, would be over $850k to retirement if you include contributions to 2023, 2024 and 2025. Just back of the napkin math gets super depressing super fast.

what sucks even more is knowing that management is THRILLED we didn't take those mailer rates, let alone the rates that were passed around last June. the IBT is doing exactly what the bean counters want: dragging this along until the economic downturn hits.

If there wasn't so much animosity and hate between Unterseher/Gleason and Maury I would think that the teamsters and management are colluding to keep our wages down. like one grand conspiracy. that is how pitiful our union has been at representing us.

And yet we still can’t get people to look for a move to ALPA. They don’t want to “delay” negotiations. Are you kidding me? How could we possibly delay anything more than what the IBT has done?? If they even remotely had our best interest at heart, they would put out a vote immediately for whatever is on the table. Let the pilot group decide if it’s good enough or not. I’m not willing to throw away millions more than we already have waiting around for them to produce a TA that isn’t any better than what we could get now anyway.

Unterseher and the teamsters only care about keeping their power over us. Add JR to the mix. Can’t wait to hear his new campaign videos when he runs for supreme leader.

He is made for politics: slick on camera and egotistical enough to think he’s got all the answers.

if he cared about the pilot group as a whole he’d put out to vote whatever is on the table.

the IBT is so stupid. They really don’t believe in the basic principle: time value of money.

Thank you. Someone had to say it. You see my username? It has aged like fine wine.

the problem here is that personal politics directed by GU have infected the negotiating committee, as well as basically amateurs that have to much of an ego to do as you have advised.

AR told me two years ago, “I’m not going to send something that’s going to pass by 51% bro. What would that say about me”.

and basically the same was said to me by one of the negotiating committee members (I think u know who it is). He said to me and I quote “I’m not going to put my name on something I’m going to be blamed for in 8 years”. And I said to this person “Did you really just tell me that?”. Which then he proceeded to say “I’ll first resign”.

This is the same person that said back in January’s membership meeting to a member basically “What ever I said during campaign season was that, campaign”. He also said “we’re not going to just roll over bc some pilots are upset about losing some money” (paraphrasing on this one).

So if this person is actually considering on running again, he’ll have to explain as to why he decided to be like AR and put himself above the membership.

that’s why JR is proving his naïveté. Nobody would blame him or the NC. They’d blame AR for wasting the greatest leverage we’ll ever see in our careers and GU for trying to play puppet master. It would be simple for JR and the NC to give the pilot group what we want: the chance to vote on whatever is on the table instead of waiting another 1-2 years and missing another cycle while in an economic downturn.

just let us vote… give us elections and a contract to vote on. It’s infuriating the way the teamsters are playing roulette with our careers.

I don’t even take him seriously anymore. Nobody could be that clueless. He’s clearly trolling now.

You can't possibly know if the majority of your pilot group would want that sent out to vote. Why don't you find out? A forum poll would get your answer within a couple days, maybe in one of your private groups to keep it accurate. TVM is real and normally this conversation shouldn't even be entertained but we have never seen such a drastic increase in industry compensation in such a short period of time before. I honestly feel bad for you all still on close to a decade old contract, hopefully that changes sooner rather than later but the old uncle there is as stubborn as it gets in his old ways.
