ALPA will come after a contract is signed imo. You also cannot say “9” years considering we’ve only been expired 4 years. And you really can’t even compare the 4 years either, considering every airline negotiations last roughly this long. That being said GU is a moron and dug his own grave long ago. If you’re going to include those 4 years you have to point the finger at AR for 3 of those
How will ALPA come up for a vote after a contract is signed? A new contract means at least 50% of the pilot group is happy enough with the TA to vote it in. Why would those pilots then turn around and decertify toonsters and vote in ALPA? I think a new contract will increase apathy to the point that an ALPA drive will fail. My opinion is it's now or never. |

I say 9 years because that's how long you've been working under a substandard GU contract. You started from behind 5 years before you got to negotiations. It was a rushed job to get us to start paying dues, and it's resulted in 9 years of lost pay and QOL. Yes, I will concede that most airline contracts take the same amount of time to negotiate. But why trust the guy now to negotiate a new contract, when you can look at the current contract and see that he's pretty bad at his job? And yes, I will also concede that AR was in way over his head. It was incredibly disheartening when he selected a bunch of kiss-a$$es to comprise his exco board, rather than the most qualified people for the job.

All valid point, but I disagree. A lot are scared to switch now due to this fear of losing the retention bonus, which is obviously not the case. I think once a TA is signed many will realize they do not want to go through this BS unprofessionalism again under Toonsters. The only thing teamsters does better than ALPA is insurance offerings.

This thread is too quiet lately. As someone who spent a number of years at G4 but moved on, this thread is the only way I can get current negotiation updates.
Also, I’ve been wanting to say it for a while as someone who worked for 2 different Teamsters airlines including G4. What a corrupt and dysfunctional joke of a union. Please get rid of them. Good luck, we’re all pulling for you to get what you deserve. |

20 years ago APA American pilots sold out everything to save their defined pension benefit plan and still lost it years later. You guys are about to do the same over a fugazi money bag that you never actually had.

big difference is Allegiant has and makes money. I also do not understand why everyone is so worried about it. So what, they somehow figure a way out of the retention bonus. You really think we will sign something without retro pay if they take that away? Retro would also be significantly more. This place would be burned to the ground if they didn’t pay us our money.

I can see why you think I said that. What I was saying is that apa traded money for retirement and still lost the retirement. You guys are trying so dang hard to get that bag that you will give up two bags worth of improvements in the process. Imagine what will happen if the economy tanks more.

So looks like the bylaws committee called out GUs lie about retention bonus dues.
