They’ll park/get rid of airplanes, close stations & domiciles, and steadily downsize the airline because they won’t have a choice.

UA 2022 pay rates, good work rules, and home based day trips. Allegiant will have no problem staffing. Not everyone wants to fly the 777 on 5 day trips. The sooner they realize it the better.

I do agree in general, but we will still have staffing issues because of the horrible bases that we have. Being home every night doesn’t mean anything when it’s somewhere that you don’t want to call home.

Everyone is complaining about not being able to upgrade or not being able to grow. IMO, that's optimistic. We're going to be downgrading in a year if they don't stem the attrition and get some carrots to recruit with.

This. Say it again for those in the back picking their noses who didn't pay attention.

If they don't get ahead of the pilot shortage this airline will be shrinking not growing. The only thing that's going to accomplish that is a lot of money and soon.

Cheers to the Regionals

Regionals offering these great rates for two years is perfectly timed to choke off any all means of allegiant’s ability to staff for their ubiquitous small bases and two type fleet planned for growth. Perfect storm for management meltdown. It’s as if the union was consulted as to how best to strangle off the ULCCs in particular G4’s pool, lol. For the next two years no one has come to a ULCC to grab a type and bounce.

When I came here, I was 70% sure the home every night model would keep me here for the foreseeable future. Now, I just don’t have any faith in the future of this company. Who’s to say we don’t abandon the home every night model at some point in the future. If I leave for a legacy now, yeah back to 4 day trips, but at least I know my company will be likely around in 20+ years. I can’t be the only one wondering if my investment here is worth nothing.

I have a feeling they will go to overnights, at least some overnights, after a new contract is signed. Without a new contract, home every night is the only carrot that keeps people here or attracts new people. The small base strategy isn't going to work, at least not in bases like FNT, ATW, and ABE and you can only park so many airplanes in the other bases. We cannot move away from small base strategy without a new contract to take the place of home every night.

It might be hard for the Florida guys to comprehend, but there are plenty of airline pilots happy to live in Michigan, DSM, etc. Look at the Allentown base, it used to be the butt of all jokes... now it barely has any vacancies. Same with GRR. I would expect ATW/FNT/PVU to fill in like that. If you live in a microbase, you can exploit the VFN system and make a killing, with great trips, and often with a low cost of living.

The majors are locking down their feed. American has it the easiest because they can go to the WOs and give them a bucket of cash to give to the pilots and tell the WO management not to pilfer from the bucket. United/Delta have to convince their feed to not steal the bucket of cash for their bottom line instead of giving to the pilots.

The issue is with the flight attendants staffing.

But how many are willing to take a gamble on Allegiant not closing the base and displacing them, or TDYing them out. How many want to work for the crap money?

I think the reason those bases have filled is because they are not offering vacancies in the other bases. FL bases have shrunk in size through the attrition, and they have not replaces as they normally would, because they know that they are robbing from one hand to give to the other.
