All of this was predicted long ago. Sad for those who chose not to listen.
Having full clarity and knowing now is worth more than the seniority. There is a lot of pride to be had in taking a chance at trying out this career to be there for your family etc.. in a way that you never could at another airline.

On a positive note the wave has just begun at UAL… I just saw that they’re planning to hire 8,000 pilots in the next 5 years. + they’re likely going to double the MCO base just announced combining it with TPA. Those that get in within the year would be historically extremely lucky. You can spew on the seniority you potentially lost waiting to see what Allegiant had in store as much as you want but there would be nothing beneficial of this other than using the feeling to take action now rather than let it get worse as time goes by. I don’t think any of us will be looking back thinking we missed the wave when we’re 50% seniority at a legacy in 10 years.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

PS: If you hit submit on the legacy app today it'll be 4 months before your badge no longer says Allegiant. You can change your mind at any point if there's a new contract and it doesn't lock you into anything.

I agree with you except to say that United's growth and hiring plan sounds unrealistically ambitious, and they have a very long history of overpromising and under delivering. They also have a long history of literally hiring until they day they decide to furlough. They are taking on massive debt with this growth/refleeting plan and I'm not sure the flying will be there especially with the dumpster fire Asia is right now.

Go there with eyes wide open not because of promised growth and splashy headlines.

Their history is definitely not impressive considering the furloughs and pay cuts over time. The saving grace for someone going there now are the retirements. If you were to go to United now you would be around 50% in 10 years with retirements alone.

AA has a lot more retirements. AA also has several bases close to Allegiant bases. I think AA is at rock bottom right now but they seem to have a solid plan to climb out of the hole. They're the least likely to furlough because they have so many more retirements than everyone else.

Not sure if people are grasping the fact - it’s not just will we get a contract or will I start to move up the list in my FL base - it’s whether this place even survives. There are long-timers I know with access to some pretty good intel who are very concerned about survivability.

Agreed, the non zip code employee numbers should have known better. No airline in this millennium had reached a TA in less than 2 years and a lot still thought G4 of all places would be the first to break that streak. Maybe it wasn't obvious for a lot of the newer folks that don't know our management. There is just no reason for them to almost double pilot expenses when it's much less expensive to keep replacing attrition when new hires are showing up and there is a looming recession. All while you absolutely hate pilots for voting in a union and would rather have them all slowly bleed out while watching their peers make 380/hr with 17% DC for doing the same job with more days off.

At this point its best we turn our attention to merger with someone else.

Yep and I've heard that reduction to 9 base plan that our EXCO told us the company analyzed is now locked and loaded, ready for 2023 after the mass exodus.

I’m curious to know if you wouldn’t mind sharing which bases will likely remain open.

I also wonder if it will actually go to the NMB or if it is a power play by the union to try to get the company to make something happen sooner before a mass exodus ensues.
