New Hire Question About Benefits

I bet a lot of people wish they took the advice of many of us and left last January. They'd have thousands of pilots behind them by now at all 3 legacies, instead of catching the end of the hiring wave. But oh, I'm just doom & gloom...
All of this was predicted long ago. Sad for those who chose not to listen.

On a positive note the wave has just begun at UAL… I just saw that they’re planning to hire 8,000 pilots in the next 5 years. + they’re likely going to double the MCO base just announced combining it with TPA. Those that get in within the year would be historically extremely lucky. You can spew on the seniority you potentially lost waiting to see what Allegiant had in store as much as you want but there would be nothing beneficial of this other than using the feeling to take action now rather than let it get worse as time goes by. I don’t think any of us will be looking back thinking we missed the wave when we’re 50% seniority at a legacy in 10 years.

PS: If you hit submit on the legacy app today it'll be 4 months before your badge no longer says Allegiant. You can change your mind at any point if there's a new contract and it doesn't lock you into anything.

Having full clarity and knowing now is worth more than the seniority. There is a lot of pride to be had in taking a chance at trying out this career to be there for your family etc.. in a way that you never could at another airline.

Go there with eyes wide open not because of promised growth and splashy headlines.

I agree with you except to say that United's growth and hiring plan sounds unrealistically ambitious, and they have a very long history of overpromising and under delivering. They also have a long history of literally hiring until they day they decide to furlough. They are taking on massive debt with this growth/refleeting plan and I'm not sure the flying will be there especially with the dumpster fire Asia is right now.

AA has a lot more retirements. AA also has several bases close to Allegiant bases. I think AA is at rock bottom right now but they seem to have a solid plan to climb out of the hole. They're the least likely to furlough because they have so many more retirements than everyone else.

Not sure if people are grasping the fact - it’s not just will we get a contract or will I start to move up the list in my FL base - it’s whether this place even survives. There are long-timers I know with access to some pretty good intel who are very concerned about survivability.

Yep and I've heard that reduction to 9 base plan that our EXCO told us the company analyzed is now locked and loaded, ready for 2023 after the mass exodus.

I also wonder if it will actually go to the NMB or if it is a power play by the union to try to get the company to make something happen sooner before a mass exodus ensues.
