Would have been profitable if not for the resort which is experiencing ridiculously low occupancy rates in what should be peak season... Even still, well below previous years' profitability.

737 MAX has been an absolute disaster. Costing the company a fortune and providing zero revenue while we continue to wait for delivery to start. I bet folks in HQ really wish they could go back in time for that decision.

The Boeing and Sunseeker were serious miscalculations, Boeing some of the blame which in fairness Allegiant couldn't have forseen at the time. Accept that we'll be flying the A320neo and get on with it. And they were told by many in the know - wrong part of Florida for that type of property, and a distraction from the business of running an airline.

What? Nobody wants to stay at a luxury resort built on a swamp in a backwater town with a view of a black water bayou that's an hour from the nearest Gulf beach? Yeah who could have possibly seen that coming?

They originally planned on having a large casino included. When local politcs turned and made that no longer an option the project was DOA but Maury's and JR's pride kept it going. Now they can reap the losses.

If only someone could have seen this coming and warned them.

737 was a horrible idea. Unfortunately, Maury views himself as some sort of "Art of the deal" airline mastermind, and in a similar vein, can never admit a mistake in hindsight.

Management told investors and banks that the choice was 737 or A220 because the waitlist for 320s was 2030-31. The big mistake MG made was thinking he could grow this airline buying used aircraft and not getting any orders on the books with Airbus - that was the mistake for the "art of the deal".

The idea that you can grow 10% a year and just buy used aircraft is absurd because you have to buy exponentially more aircraft each year on the used market. the 320 is not the MD80 where they were avaialble on the cheap in mass quantities. This was the big mistake by MG.

Choosing the 737 over the 220 is whatever; the bean counters wanted the bigger aircraft. the 220 isn't even an airbus product, its a C-Series with an airbus stamp. new cockpits and seperate fleets either way.

Marg - you know we only have two things in common: we both saw through Robles as a supremem leader and that SS was a swamp disaster the entire time. I think we both saw right through the con artists Redmond and Robles.

Other than that, i think we disagree on everything else lol

Am I following it right that the company also declared a $15m dividend after saying we lost $1m for the quarter?
