Default C57 & Barton Drama hopefully ends this week!

I've seen so many statements, and allegations, and alarming facts about the LAX LEC Chairman, John Barton and very few supportive statements for him.

C34 just came out with a Officer Notice, where they had to state "We assure you that not one single MEC Member, MEC Officer, or MEC Committee is interested in selling or relaxing our contractual Scope provisions. Despite this, we are being accused of just that. This noise seems to be a smoke screen and diversion from all the internal problems the said council is currently experiencing. Our greater concern is these communications will undermine our position at the negotiating table." Amazing, how this had to be put out in response to Barton's accusations against our own MEC.

And I'm sure everyone saw the following:

"Just spoke to Todd Insler our MEC President. He confirmed to me that everything we have been told about John Barton is 100% true. Among many things, he threatened Todd with holding up the contract if Todd didn't vote for him to be ALPA National President. Long story short, John Barton and Oly Olson are lying to us all. And making up stories to cover it up. More importantly, Todd said the MEC will defend Scope at all costs. So that's another Barton lie. I already voted to recall him. Now you have the truth confirmed by our MEC President. Vote your conscience"

At first, when I started seeing all these postings, emails, and texts, that this was only union business that concerned C57 only, and no other union member should weigh in on the LEC matter. But then I realized how much the LAX LEC Chairman was attacking and insinuating how our own MEC Chairman and MEC members would give on scope. Really?! What I'm trying to grasp, is that there are serious allegations against John Barton, which he has failed to acknowledge or address. I'm not sure if he is taking the "better man" stance by being silent. If that's the case, then why is he sending out emails stating how "he is a line pilot fighting for other line pilots" for scope and without him, that the MEC would crumple to the company.

Not once has he addressed the following:

1. Turning in another pilot to HR, instead of Professional Standards (Isn't that breaking our own ALPA code of integrity?)
2. He has resigned from previous ALPA duties, in which his Letter of Resignation has floated around for all to see.
3. There have been numerous allegations of impropriety while working for ALPA
And the list goes on , etc... but the sheer number of his issues are beyond the problem. There comes a time, when there are so many accusations against a person, that you cannot discount all of them and it doesn't take much digging to realize how many are factual. I've never seen so much against one person in the past 20 years!

Where has he been on these issues. I've seen nothing but deflection and evading the issues. My concern is how disruptive he is, not only for C57 but for our entire union, especially during contract negotiations. That's when i decided that every union member should weigh in on this matter.

There have been multiple emails for and against Barton. I can appreciate emails if they are in support of Barton, if they have facts. But the emails i'm seeing the most are asking C57 members to just vote and keep Barton in office, to just get through the recall chaos before we pop up on the radar with the company. Hate to tell you, but this is covering the whole radar screen! Why would anyone want to keep a person in such an important position that is creating a high level of dissension among not only C57 LEC, but is the talk of all union members from Guam to EWR. Since we are already at this point, wouldn't it be smarter to get rid of an issue that has so many questions surrounding his past, and his real intent and aspirations to be head of ALPA National and who knows what else.

The other argument I've heard in favor of Barton is that this recall vote and finding a replacement would hold up the MEC with contract negotiations. How absurd! He can be voted out this week. A replacement can be put in, within months. Negotiations have been progressing in light of this nonsense. I want a truly unified MEC and not someone there to provide continuous disruption.

Right now, I am asking C57 members to vote for the right reasons. Voting to keep it status quo to put this issue behind us, is not helping anything but continuing the drama that will remain in C57 if he stays. I'm hoping the newest members of C57 realize how important this vote is and that your near future for this contract and long term impacts are dependent on your vote. There are some pilots that want to put their blinders on and stick their heads in the sand, but this is too important of a decision that affects their careers and the pilots outside the LEC. Either vote to remove Barton that is the center of all this drama or keep it the same ole same ole, where there will always be a 50/50 rift in the LEC at best, if Barton stays. If you truly want to get this behind you, Vote Barton out, and move on.

I swear, it's very hard for me to take either side seriously. We constantly elect the most immature jackwagons to ALPA positions. Both sides suck.

The difference between Insler and Barton can be measured in light years. We currently enjoy the smartest and strongest MC since Dubinski.

Barton reminds me of another Jackwagon that ran for EWR captain rep a few years ago. Fortunately he lost. There are certain individuals, that if they ever get into office, you will just regret it afterwards.

FWIW I’ve never heard a bad thing about Barton from anyone outside the OC mafia.

If any of you think you are getting a contract by the end of this year without Insler folding on section 1, you are smoking something good.

This Barton thing is a distraction from that.

Come and see me in 6 months when: Your section 1 is degraded but you have a contract or, in 3-5 years when you actually get a contract if we hold the line on section 1.

By the way, I would be very happy to be proven wrong.

Yep ... Just like the jack wagon in EWR.... Assuming he's still there.
