Deltajuliet,

I hear ya. I know it's frustrating as heck... but being on the j/s committee and having seen what happens with AACs who don't play by the rules, I'm just throwing out a reminder as to how it's gotta be done. As far as why the company chose to go with the AAC code instead of what you suggested, that's AMR for ya...welcome to our world!

Recently I was a jumpseater out of MSP at the gate on time and was left behind because the boarding process took so long that by the time they got to the non-revs it was d-10. AA is trying to fix performance issues the wrong way if the others can get standbys on and still be on time.

If you don't get the non-rev seat, you have a chance at the Jumpseat and vice versa.

This one time waiting to board a UAL flight, I was listed as both but I knew they wouldn't get to #37 on the non-rev list. I noticed there was a UAL pilot also waiting near the gate. I asked him if he was listed as a non-rev and he answered no. I asked him if he would list as a non-rev as to give me the chance to get the Jumpseat if he gets a seat in the back. He had no problem with it, listed, got a seat in the back, and I got the Jumpseat instead of getting left behind with him in the Jumpseat instead.

The reason is because AA's policy has always been that nobody is ever allowed to have two PNRs checked in twice, or one PNR showing up twice. It's just how they play the game. Believe me, i wish it wasn't that way - I don't see the problem of listing as an AAC and a D6 at the same time...is clear that one is for the cabin and one is for the j/s. But that is AA's policy.

The bigger (and worst) issue , again, is listing as an AAC and then asking for the j/s by using the higher AAC priority.

Here's another question, are AA pilots only allowed to list for one or the other as well?

Well, it's a little different for us because when we reserve the jumpseat, it automatically gives us a D2 for the cabin (coach only) as well.

That said - if we want a D1, or a listing for First, we have to let the agent know so that he/she can manually append that request. A royal PITA but this is the j/s system the company forced on us. It will be changing soon.

If we don't reserve the j/s, we just show up as D1 or D2 with FDJ next to our listing, so the agent knows we can sit up front if it fills up.

The bottom line is that we can never have two listings checked in at the same time.

So in other words, what the other poster suggested is already in place for AA pilots. Wherein one listing can serve as both.

I get it. AA does it there way and that's that. But it wasn't too long ago that AA only took one (or two) jumpseaters per airline in the back regardless of how many open seats there were.
