Is there something specific about LAX 737 that makes it especially undesirable. Redeyes? High cost of living? Difficult commutes? Crummy trips?

I think it may be the “737” part.

Haha, come on. Do people really care? Can’t be worse than a WSCOD RJ. Or do 73s whistle too?

Another major problem with LAX 737 reserve is you have to cover 4 airports spread out all over hell. LAX, SNA, ONT, & SAN, plus there is no viable public transportation in the city as a commuter unlike NYC. You are going to spend a small fortune and a lot of time on Uber/rental cars or ride multiple connecting busses with hobos and hoodrats for hours and hours in traffic hoping to not get robbed or stabbed. Regularly rode bus in NYC, ORD without issue, never felt comfortable on busses in LA. NYC bus has a mix of all walks of life since nobody has cars there. LA, pretty much everyone you would want to associate with has cars so the people on the bus are typically sketchy as hell, certainly not airline pilots. Short trips near LAX are fine but long trips across the city. No thanks, Won't do it again.

A320 LAX only has to cover one airport.

LAX to ONT = 55 miles
LAX to SNA = 40 miles
LAX to SAN = 124 miles (basically have to fly there, have heard they will build you a DH but unsure).

I can't say how often you are sent to those other airports on 737 reserve, since I am on a different fleet. I just know the logistics of it for a commuter would be a nightmare having lived there for years.

All THAT, cost of living is high, and all wholly owneds (Majority of new hires) are mostly East Coast based and have established lifestyles they try to get back ASAP

If you do happen to live in SoCal, and especially south of LAX, then the 737 can be a choice assignment.

Assuming comfort while flying isn’t important to you, that is.

Is the 737 really that uncomfortable to fly or is it just airbus pilots chiming in? Is it the seats? Yoke? Windscreen noise?
