I think you can bid for CA as long as you will be off probation when the award is effective. As far as BOS goes it has become more junior at the bottom as senior BOS FOs upgrade in BOS or LGA before they retire, but in the last couple of bids a lot junior FOs have been awarded BOS so it may slow a bit for a while. I waited three years to get into BOS. Then again supposedly there is supposed to be movement at AA. 4 years here and I can barely hold a line, working all weekends and holidays, or reserve.

How fast to get to wide body FO at LGA?
I'm still waiting to interview, doing some research in the meantime -- I've heard from friends that if you want LGA (I do), it's a junior base and you can make CA more quickly than other domiciles. What about going to widebodies as an FO? About how long would each take if I got an A320 or 737 drop?
Thanks,

It doesn’t matter at all what aircraft you get before 777. You’ll get awarded it based on seniority after you seat lock expires. 6 months for a new hire. So avoid the 190 like the plague and gun for the bus or 737. You’ll be at LGA pretty much right away. You will also make way more over your career than guys living in DFW or CLT. Then again, you’ll pay more taxes and have to have a permit for your guns, so give and take I guess.

Congrats, you live in the most Jr base for every airline. Jr Airbus CA as of December 2018 will be a June 2013 hire. Jr 777 FO will be an 11 Nov hire (well eqivelent anyway, actually a 2001 hire but a 2013 could hold it).

Super 80 guys going to wide body? Doubt it...they fly domestic, day trips close to home for a reason. 73 or AB for sure.

There are around 90 S80 ca's in DFW that cant hold DFW captain on any other equipment. The smart play, if they want to stay in DFW, is displace to 777/787 fo, with no seat lock, and bid ca again, as soon as they can hold it.
There are also 40 or so S80 fo's that can hold DFW ca on the bus or 73, and around 130 fo's that wouldn't be able to hold 777/787 fo in DFW.
Since they will be able to displace, with no seat lock, all bets are off.
As a junior narrow body ca, commuting to reserve, going back to 777 fo (even on reserve) at home in DFW is looking better every day. And I know several other guys in the same boat I'm in, with similar thoughts.
