Except the regionals can handle the lower capacity much better and do it more cost-efficient ... food for thought.

only if the airlines keep frequency over capacity. If the airlines cut frequency the horrible CASM of the RJs become a problem. I feel in this instance we don’t need 7 flights a day from DEN-DRO on all RJs just 2 319s.

RJ's $0.19 CASM
Mainline $0.14 CASM

Almost 1/3 less to run mainline. But people generally like frequency.

they do and that’s why 2008 killed mainline. frequency was kept with RJs because there wasn’t enough demand to fill mainline on 7 flights a day.

I think one of they ways the industry will change after all this is that frequency will be reduced and capacity raised. I believe 76 seats will be the smallest RJ.

That $40 billion spent on stock buybacks would really come in handy now

Why do you think frequency will be reduced in the long term? Frequency (and network) is what sells for business travelers. It’s probably a big reason the ULCC industry doesn’t have many of them.

Why? The government is making all of the money needed available right now. Money is literally free to the airlines.
