AA Management decided not to award any paid Voluntary Short Term Leaves of Absence (VSTLOA) or unpaid Voluntary Extended Leaves of Absence (VELOA) for any 737 or 320 bid status for the month of April. Good news? Seems like a lot of pay to sit at home because of cancelled trips. I have no idea. Thoughts?

yeah, WTF is that about?? Thousands and thousands of people are willing to step up and alleviate some of the financial pressure on the company, and THEY ASKED US to do this by the way, and they can't get their $hit together. what a joke...just makes me think they want everyone on payroll to burn through the money faster.

So I guess all line holders that lost their trips are eligible for RO! Sweet! 10 hour call out!

I wonder, can the company leave everybody on payroll and lower the min line value to e.g. 35 hours? Can they do that?

No.

Minimum ALV is 72. +/-7 hours from that defines the “Line Construction Window”. So the lowest they could go is 72-7=65 hours for awarded lines. LCR/SCR is still 73/76 min guarantee.

Much like our friends at Delta, it would appear that AA pilots lost any bit of goodwill towards mgmt with this VSTLOA shadiness.

i made the same Delta reference on another thread and was promptly told it was Delta union bashing their FAs...that maybe true, but it still is a big pile of horse**** thrown at both pilot groups. what is our management’s excuse? And to think 2 days ago I was telling my Delta friends how well it seemed our group and the company were working on this together. Looks like “together” is only reserved for those who sit up front once the cockpit door closes.

it’s part of the CBA so any changes would have be made by a bankruptcy judge.
