There leaders were very vocal and the operation fell apart. Then they got an injunction. Following that things remained f@cked up. Then they got a contract.

Your timeline is a bit off. The mechanics in fact were not happy with the final contract offer because of outsourcing, and they did not sign it pre COVID. They signed during COVID because Parker honored his last offer and they knew the position of strength was gone. Shoot the whole airline might be. If not for COVID they’d still be without a contract.

I took that as he was referring to a AWA mechanic contract back in the day.

This pilot group will never get a contract they deserve. Too diversified, too many inequities and to much RLA. Oh and too much hot air.

After the 2013 merger, who negotiated:
1: pay raises
2: profit sharing (not great, noted)
3: positive space travel passes for two
4. $1000
?….

5. Average calendar day
6. got rid of social security offset for LTD.

Improvements have been made, but only when Parker really needed some kind of relief from us.

Last pay raises were gifted to us by management.

Items 5 & 6 cost us. I am staring to think the company came out on the better end of those two.

What you pro ALPA folks seem to be missing is that there’s a fundamental difference between UAL/DAL and AA, and it’s significantly more important than the name of your union. DAL and UAL aren’t negotiating with Doug Parker, we are. I don’t care how strong your union is or how competent your negotiators are, you need some good faith negotiations coming back at you from across the table. If one party’s sole intent is to drag out negotiations forever only to be put on ice by some judge 5 years down the road, then no union on earth can secure an ILC.

Doug Parker wasn't negotiating in 1963. APA has turned in very consistent crappy results from day one.
