ZTL vs Furloughed
#11
The PSP2 requires airlines to recall, (with back pay to December 1), all *FURLOUGHED* employees. ZTL and Alternate Month Line pilots were not furloughed.
Those pilots have remained employees of American Airlines, they have been paid pursuant to the deal that they accepted, and they have continued to accrue company longevity, vacation, sick time, 401(k) contributions, and healthcare benefits.
They voluntarily accepted the company’s offer for a “cost-saving” alternate method of scheduling. As I seem to recall, the deals that they accepted were good through May, 2021 and unless the company finds it to be in the company’s best interest, I seriously doubt that the company is now going to allow those pilots to back out of the cost-saving deal that they voluntarily agreed to. Additionally, I’m quite sure that the PSP2 does not address it.
Yes, I realize that the ZTLs and Alt Month Schedules were offered in an effort to “mitigate furloughs” but I don’t foresee AA management being in a giving mood, when it comes to rescinding these cost-saving measures.

I'm just waiting for someone to complain about us getting paid to sit at home.....
I read somewhere that the company hinted they wouldn't start returning anyone to flying status until March. Did anyone else catch anything like that?

Everyone is back immediately and paid retroactively. They don’t even have to fly to get paid. You?
