- The station with the highest number of widebody departures is LHR, with 564 777 departures and 180 for the 787.
- The Airbus fleet has 1,064 departures out of MCO, and 857 out of TPA. Add another 439 for the 737 out of MCO for the 737.
Great info!

because a new base voids all seat locks for those who want it and would create a lot of backfill training events that the company simply cannot absorb right now. Also a lot of AA flying has you flying for multiple days through OTHER hubs/bases and ever flying to your base on day 4 or 5

Can someone elaborate on why training capacity would impact opening a base in ORD? I thought it would be the maintainence requirements to support the A320 at ORD, but that was just a wild guess.

Because it's another bid status. A large number of 737 ORD CA's/FO's (or other bid statuses) could bid it and there would be quite a bit of training involved to get them all up to speed.

Company still has to honor seniority. Also from what I have heard ORD wouldn't grow, the 737 bid status would shrink to open that Airbus base. So you're going to have ~200 pilots going through transition training (all training has the same footprint here whether it be that, initial or upgrade) all at the same time.

Ill throw this in here. I was in a meeting with some chiefs in the northwest. They said the plan was for BOTH BOS and ORD to be bus bases sometime in the near future… FYI.

according to LGA chief the plan is for every base to have both narrow body fleets in the future.

Additionally, I understand that “Domestic” will go away and everyone will be “International”. That’s a lot less to do, but still not happening in short order.
