These two values do not compound either.

It s a good deal for them. But let s not make it out to be more than what it is. I d be shocked if anyone got close to $100k in month.
And it is excessively rare for a LCA to pick up training for OT, hardly ever happens.
And an average pilot has 4 days a month to pick up flying at this rate, and that puts him down to 8 days off.
Good deal, but you still make more elsewhere.

So you have a career path to AA when you don't even have to interview. Just like back in 2016, there's gonna be some real winners who will get in.
AA's solution for that is to just fire the people that flow to mainline but aren't actually wanted at mainline. They've done it several times.

This is exactly what happened to Emery in 2001. Shut down 1 year into "the best first contract in ALPA history". And it was very much planned.

Why would a company throw out a big contract (TO ATTRACT FUTURE PILOTS) then declare BK?
would that attract those pilots?

Emery was grounded by the FAA for poor maintenance practices and out right falsifying logbooks. Check their crash/accident/incident record.

Take it from a former EWA crewmember. Were you there? I was. It wasn’t an accident. Except for what they did to the crew of 17.

The company hoped for a Force Majure shut down so Menlo Logistics and the LTL trucking could be sold without the buyer having to take the airline. Thus they happily signed contract 2000 knowing it meant basically nada.
