What is the likely hood of getting the Airbus if you are one of the younger guys in the class? Are most folks getting what they want. I’d be looking at PHX eventually so I’d want to avoid the 737.

Let me get the crystal ball out….Not sure, depends.

If your younger then around 32 it’ll be hard to get the Airbus.

Yea I am 29. Already got the 737 type from SWA. Being stuck on the 737 again for 2 years is not ideal lol.

It’s completely dependent on your class and drop. I was in a class of 45, with only 18 AB slots I believe. I’m 30 and there were only 737 slots left when the bid got to me. I finally got awarded PHX 320 but I’m withheld and I’ll be commuting until the middle of next year. Withholds can be up to a max of 12 months and you should expect to be withheld the max time right now.

Can you explain the withheld in more detail? So your seat locked for 2 years right?

On the other hand my class in April had 48 and only 8 737 spots.

Which aircraft has the faster movement? Also why is the Bus more desirable? I know the 737 is a dinosaur but really is it that bad?

To piggy back on his questions, I've heard 737 has better trips. I'm specifically looking to be based in DFW. What is better about 737 trips vs AB (if anything)?

You may be surprised. I was around your age and snatched one of the last Airbus bids.

You are seat locked for six months as a new hire, but they can withhold you to make it a year. This means that if they are conducting new hire training and upgrades to the point that they can't accommodate you (likely), you will be awarded what you bid but will have to wait until the year is up for it to actually go into effect. It's basically a year seat lock, effectively.
