2023 Class Drops
#623
Probably sitting around a crew room listening to a new hire complain that his squadron buddies are upgrading at Delta in 6 months and it’s going to take HIM 2 years at American. Hilarious thing is a recent new hire class had a Delta pilot, several Jet Blue, and a couple Southwest. Grass is always greener.

As long as multiple players are hiring, you will always see a bit of this. Not necessarily that the grass is greener, but different people like different kinds of grass. No rhyme or reason sometimes why you get a call from the OTHER carrier first instead of where you want to work. Some people want to live in XYZ instead of ATL/PHX/DEN/PHX or place your preferred domicile over where the other place that called you first flies from.

And are class drops known before showing up for class?
For the recent new hires, what has been said regarding future hiring? Numbers for next year?

Weekly classes with class drops on the Friday before the class. No classes in December. Approximately 2200 per year for the next 5 years. 800 or so per year are to replace pilots that retire, 1400 are for growth.
