Wait. Fo’s never made PA’s at American?

It is a very captain centric airline... Even the Reject TO is only a captain decision.

Does JFK have runway status lights on 4L?

Until January 3, 2023 most Captains did all PAs. Now we share. I have not listened to any PAs. They have got to be better than mine.

Minimum experience for anyone on the wide body is 6 years FO and 30 or so for Captain. The exception to that is Check Pilots. They don’t need any experience. Some are as high as 9000 seniority which is not remotely close to 30 years. Not many want the Check Pilot job because it pays so little. Crazy times.

For me this is a reminder to maintain proficiency in all that we do. Also, mainly for the WB and Airbus guys, dont forget the Proficiency section (page 207) of the FOM. Turn shi* off every now and again and fly it like you stole it.

I'm pretty sure that's everywhere.

As a FO… Pretty sure I’m going to reject if my hands are on the thrust levers or call a reject if there’s a plane on the runway.

There were three working pilots in there - all based at that airport. Somehow all three failed to comprehend the taxi instruction and instead of turning right and crossing 31L, they all allowed the pilot controlling the tiller to cross an entirely different runway.

The Qatar 777 in ORD turned onto the wrong taxiway and nailed a light post. All four crew members were held responsible.
These events make me wonder about the cockpit authority gradient.
