Sorry to derail this, but back to the 3 day reserve blocks conversation for a quick second. Just so no potential new hires are confused. I’m at 81.5% in base and just got all 3 day blocks on LC for the month of July. I’m not a lineholder but I can technically hold a line in my base because there is a majority that predominantly bids SC. Im a commuter and this is the first time ever purposely bidding three day LC blocks. Hope I don’t regret this lol.

The 3-day reserve block has nothing to do with seniority. Getting any day off in a month in order to accommodate the 3-day reserve blocks is where seniority comes into play. Some pilots consistently bid reserve Fridays through Mondays and get Tuesdays through Thursdays off. Others bid reserve Mondays through Thursdays and get Fridays through Sundays off. However, when you do 3-day blocks, it ends up being a pretty random schedule (3-days on, 2 days off, 3-days on, 3 days off, 3-days on, 1 day off, etc.). If you're senior enough to close your eyes, point to the calendar and get whatever day off you want, 3-day blocks are possible. This is going to vary month by month depending on how many people are on vacation. Just about everyone with vacation bids reserve for the extra credit. You may have 90 people on reserve and 10 of them are on vacation for 3 weeks and unavailable to actually pull reserve for most of the month.
