Default SWAPA and SWA have reached an AIP

SWAPA Union President just announced the company and the union negotiators have reached an Agreement in Principle on the new contract. SWAPA BOD will meet 14 September to vote on whether to forward it to the pilot group for a vote.

Here's hoping it is something worthy of a YES vote. If not, we'll follow Delta pilot's and SWA F/A's lead and send it back.

-Either an 8/3/3/3% raise or 5/3/3/3%.

-Major give on Section 1 codeshare language (the company really wants international codeshare).

-Very minor improvement to retirement

Whack-I'm new to the industry, can you explain how international code share affects SWA?
I guess what would be the structure of the code share?
Would it be something like a dude in Berlin books a ticket to Boise on Lufthansa.?
SWA picks that guy up in NY flies him to Boise under a Lufthansa ticket?
Or is it more like we fly a dude to Costa Rica then he hops on a puddle jumper to an island all on a SWA ticket...

I'm sure the latter is the one they'd be after, because someone going to Costa Rica doesn't worry about the small island ticket.

Danger is it wouldn't be with Lufthansa or probably anyone in the Skyteam/Oneworld/or Star Alliances.

Maybe Emirates or Ethiad is looking for an equal political footing inside the US and bringing SWA onboard would certainly help strengthen their world domination plans.

Again, maybe ignorant question, but how is that bad for SWA?Doesn't it increase the domestic loads?
I can see how it is bad for UAL and DAL international routes...(direct competition now)
...but then again, I guess that causes a domino effect : emirates low pay cheaper rates causes UAL and DAL to have low pay and cheaper rates internationally...then domestic...then SWA...then it is the bad decades all over again

is this in line from any kind of survey of the pilot group?

Hoping it helps push the bar fwd so we have something to work with when we re-engage with the company later this year.

good luck guys

It is bad because when flying leaves, current or future, it NEVER comes back. CODESHARE IS POISON! I have copies of LH on board magazine. Their route maps included Sydney, Lima, Santiago in 1994. Guess which cities are no longer served in 2015.

Ok but if SWA isn't flying to XYZ destinations, and emirates is delivering passengers to SWAs doorstep to funnel them all around the U.S., how is that bad for SWA Specifically...again I can see how it's bad for the U.S. international carriers
