2 in a row now that’s ORD-heavy. Sure seems like they have something in the works

Info is irrelevant because a lot of senior FOs bid reserve on purpose. That will change once the new reserve rules go into effect. So what it will be once a new hire today gets to that stage and the new rules have taken effect? Who knows? That goes for any base.

Not according to the vacancy bid that is coming out tomorrow. Prelims only had 5 slots. Plus we can see what the retirements at ORD is at and it is pretty much holding steady. Airbus base is the most logical reason.

I’m a little familiar with the current setup, from friends hired prior to me as well as a little study of the contract and the reserve compass. I haven’t studied too much, since I keep hearing it’s changing soon and I’m focusing on newhire training anyway.
I guess what I’m getting at, if it can be kept brief, what are the big change(s), and do you think it’ll be overall more negative? My only references are regional reserve (hellacious) and ULCC reserve in base (cake walk, barely got used). I’ll be a commuter for at least 10-11 more months, February hire.

So as a newbie, does reserve tend to go senior in a lot of places? And if anyone has a cliff notes of how the upcoming changes could shake up reserve, mind sharing?

For example, if a 3 day trip is in open time, someone senior with 3 days will get called over someone junior with 2. If there’s multiple people with 3 days available, the junior one will get it. There’s strategies for senior people to never fly using the new system.

Some senior people do reserve, but lots of people want to make more money or hold a good line, so there’s a mix. Right now, you get grouped by how much you’ve flown and get called in reverse seniority. What’s coming soon is a system where you get grouped by days available, and it will go in reverse seniority based on days available.
