American probably does need a breath of fresh air more than other legacies, I hope they get it.

"....because you can be told you're not a human only so many times". Now he knows how the pilots feel.

Few realize just how many hats pilots wear to keep an airline going. When they choose to wear only their hats and no one elses and watch the resulting show with everyone else, we see what results.

AA simply cannot survive, let alone compete without the efforts of motivated pilots.

... but where to get that breath of fresh air. I hope that this will be in the form of a successful merger with USAirways. The American pilots cling to the hope that Doug Parker cannot be as bad as Horton. Unfortunately, as my daddy used to say, "There ain't a nickel’s worth of difference between them." Parker has made it clear what he thinks about the sacrifices that his own pilots have made and exactly what they are worth. He has even put a dollar amount on it- a dollar amount that is so insulting that is actually worse than nothing. He has demonstrated his utter contempt for the pilots’ profession with his own pilots. Parker simply turns the heat up gradually, until one can, or is no longer willing to jump out of the boiling pot. Let's hope that pilots are smarter than frogs.

Parker has simply taken advantage of the situation at US Airways, a situation handed to him on a silver platter by the East. Vote in a new union that rejects every TA'd section of the joint contract? Thanks, boys. Pull a hissy fit and get placed under an injunction when you are not even close to a contract? Thanks , kids.

Management does not owe you a thing except a paycheck for your work according to your contract. You and your union determine when you stop living under LOA 93 and go forward and get paid like a major airline pilot

Management does not care what you went through under your old airline. The quicker you guys figure out that the old US Air is dead and gone the quicker we can all proceed. This airline makes money and takes delivery of new jets. This airline pays profit sharing and runs a lean ship, at least in those departments still not tainted with East management. Parker is o friend of labor but he makes money and that keeps us employed. It is up to us to get our act together and get a joint contract from him. In the meantime he is saving 160 million a year in labor costs, money USAPA is throwing away.

Requoted for truth. The entire organization runs smoothly because pilots are at the center of the information hub and know what happened, what is happening, and what is going to happen next. It's incredible how every other department and management takes this for granted at every airline out there.

I agree that "he makes money and that keeps us employed" and that IS something positive, at least. However, if you continue to make this about the NIC, you are playing into his hand. I would prefer to get a decent contract from this profitable company and to be negotiated with fairly and realistically, from a company who understands that we are not in bankruptcy proceedings. I do not know how the NIC will resolve itself inside a merger. I DO NOT care to speculate or argue about the NIC on a message board. The truth is, I have no solution for the NIC. I am singularly focused on a good contract. For the record, I voted against LOA 93. I knew when I posted that you would be the next post, co-opting the discussion once again. I do grow so weary of your same old monolithic rant.

Are you so naive that you think the East agreeing to the NIC will give you an industry standard contract? Do you really think Parker wants to pay you more because he likes you? Parker will side step a contract until he is forced too. Parker will try to run separate operations indefinitely. NIC or DOH Parker will delay paying as long as he has thousands of applications.
