Just watched a well done commercial for "american arriving". I'm thinking this merger was decided quite some time ago.

Bet T-hawk is really John Hale, AA's glad handing, two-faced, self serving chief, self proclaimed super "pilot". Anyone who thinks that this deal will enhance the airline pilot profession is so consumed by the kool-aid that they are beyond help. Only someone with connections and true believers would ever be able to attend this news conference.

Just like 9E's BK and fleet plan, the AMR / UsAir merger was planned by multiple groups long before it ever hit these boards.

I agree...this is not going to help the airline pilot profession. This will only keep more guys at the regional level longer and / or for the duration of their career. The majors are going to continue to down size (mergers help this process) and feed larger aircraft to cheap low cost regionals, thus reducing their costs and increasing the overall profit margin. The plan has already been set in motion, read carefully the newest contracts, TA's, mergers etc.

With that being said its not the end of the world... "work to live, don't live to work"

Did you just call Parker and Horton "gents"?! I think that right there says it all in case anyone is still questioning this guy.

American-US Airways News Conference on Merger: Video - Bloomberg

I wonder if he was one of the guys standing at attention when Horton was introduced. Things that make you shake your head.

Yeah, that had a lot of us shaking our heads. Doug never got that at a crew news session.
