Just curious how that works? When it comes time to bid equipment, are they separated? Do the AA/US pilots have to bid their respective companies bases and equip? Say a pilot hired on the US side lives in MIA, could they bid the 76 in MIA on the AA side?
Together for first three days and then the US head to PHX for the remainder. The two groups have slightly different schedules at DFW - equip bids are separate. So, it's really pseudo combined.

Thanks for the info...

I guess the million dollar question: How does relative seniority work? AA is end of training; I assume US is DOH. Is that accurate? If so, looks like US would get a few months of seniority to a new AA guy.

That is a good question now that everyone is apparently starting on the same day.

This is not a complicated issue.

US guys hired in July or August would be ahead of the AA guys hired today *IF* you believe that the SLI won't adjust for the difference in how seniority numbers are generated.

Anyone seriously believe an August US newhire is going ahead of a June 3rd AA newhire???

What's the big deal? AA should start to give out seniority #s 1st day of indoc like every other airline. AA, give me a reason why this isn't a good idea? Keep it simple. Again, this makes so much more sense and is simpler than their current system.

For both AA/US newhires, utilize hire date for SLI purposes. Make it fair for all the newhires on both sides. Who can argue with that? Let's get thru this SLI with the least amount of drama so we can all move on with what will be an amazing career.

I think the question is, two sets of pilots, all have the same hire (start) date, but on the US side they are ordered by age. On the AA side there is no order. You'd have to go back retroactively and re-order the AA list around because those guys get #'s by training completion date, so if the youngest guy in the room finishes first he'll be senior to the oldest guy (potentially) where as on the US side it's the opposite.
