I didn't get the feeling AA was picky during the interview. We all had a myriad of suits. I wore a dark blue suit, white shirt, and red tie. Be cool, calm, and collected and you will crush it. Good luck!

Relax, take a deep breath - they called you in because they like what they see on paper and the online interview. They want to see if that guy shows up in person.

It's dark suit day when they're interviewing guys. Randomly you'll see a guy going bold with a yellow tie. White belt? Ugh. White leather shoes? Ugh. < true story.

Good luck.

in my previous life I did pilot interviews for a year ish.. What I (we) wanted to see was ... Is this guy someone I would like to have dinner with. Your quals got you the interview, now just go tell them the story of you. Good and bad, meaning, show some humility , fess up to your faults( no one is perfect), in fact the perfect sounding guy was usually the one we gave a thumbs down to, because he would NOT admit to or discuss his shortcomings, and I don't mean "well, I set my goals too high, and when I don't achieve them I'm too hard on myself"!! Can't tell you how many times I heard that. Relax, be yourself , be humble , they WANT to hire you!!
Good luck
Joe

Ps... Regarding the suit etc.. Go to men's warehouse (or wherever)... Look around and see which color they have the MOST of... Pick that one😁

Once you get to Dallas the job really is yours to lose. When you walk into the museum where the interviews take place there are two AA pilots in uniform. Their purpose is to welcome you and try to get you to relax. You will chit chat for a few minutes until one of the interviewers comes to get you. There will be a bottle of water on the desk. Drink it or don't drink it. It doesn't matter. It's not a trick to see what you do. I drank mine and I got the job. I'm sure the water had zero to do with it. They really do want to get to know you.

Go with Navy suit, white shirt red tie and black polished leather shoes. That suit will work at all three airlines! Maybe a good tie at United but the everything else would work.

One guy in my interview group in Jan was well qualified and his dad was a 30 AA Capt in DFW. He didn't pass the interview. He was a nice go too but the only that made him standout was he wore a suit that I would wear in NY or on Wall Street. He looked well polished but stood out too much I thought. Maybe that had nothing to do with him not getting the job but AA has the highest hire rate once you make it to the interview so it had to be something.
Good luck.
My buddy who is a fighter guy just finished the online interview Tuesday. Hopefully he gets an interview soon!

I received the email about 2 weeks ago and I was available immediately, and I submitted my application around October/November. My availability was originally set on 2 April.

For you latest OTS interviews, what did you need to bring with you to the 2 day face-to-face event? (and yes, I know I can look back, but I am wondering if it has changed).

Thanks!

I have been asked to do the organizational fit assessment multiple times. It seems every few months or so I need to redo part of it. Anyone have any input as to why that might be?

Once you're invited to the two day in person interview they will send you an email outlining everything you need to bring with you. If I remember correctly....

- logbooks, flight records
- current ATP or ATP written
- FCC radio permit
- first class medical
- official college transcript (sealed) I brought three in separate places in case I misplaced one the day prior or something
- passport
- government issued ID

I brought copies of everything. In addition to my official logbook, I printed my entire flight history via an electronic logbook and bound that as well so they could have everything in one bound book. I put a sticky note on every check ride.

I also brought a printed copy of my application, cover letter, resume, and all my on file recommendations. I was never asked for any of those but figured it would look good if it came up and I pulled it out

Hopefully that helps. The process was a lot of fun and everyone was really friendly.

Enjoy!

Guys after my video interview they sent me an email requesting more information on my app. Which was my SS number and birth date. Is this the normal process? Or is that a sign my video interview did not go well? Any info is appreciated. Take Care!
