Does anyone know the current status of iPads for us airways pilots?
When are they expected? What charts will be on them..jepp? Lido? What model iPad will it be? Will the company provide a way/software for Catcrew access on them? |

Who cares? The charts are in the plane. They can keep their I pad. They will make us pay for it somehow.

Agreed, keep the Ipad. Who is responsible if it gets dropped or stolen?

Put the ipads in the jet. If it gets damaged or stolen, let the Co. pay for the loss. They can track the ipads all day long if they wish, as long as I'm no were near it on my offndays. Technology can enslave the operator. Particularly when it is misunderstood or underestimated. .

I would prefer airplane specific efbs. I don't want to be responsible for it. I wish they would just keep the ones in the 319s and put them in the rest of the fleet.

I'm not understanding some of the objections... the iPad is a very cool piece of technology, and is really useful in flight beyond Jeppesons. Even somewhat silly things come in handy - like one of my favorite apps, a WB crew rest tool.
The iPad lets you capture screen shots instantly. I have a dozen from various pages in my manuals, like RWY length requirements in odd configs, the LHR constant descent charts, etc. These sit (for me) in a "777" collection; you can grab any of them instantly, rather than plowing through PERF pages and the like. The iPads we got (AA) are technically company property, but you can have whatever apps on them you want. I'm obviously a huge fan. It has greatly simplified what was before an immense conglomeration of paper manuals. |

I'm looking forward to the ipad for the having everything in one spot. |
Foreverfo-Do you guys have access to wifi for weather on yours? I've heard that we won't. Does any airline? My brother in law is a corporate pilot and what they have is amazing.

Fear, paranoia.
My question is what happens when you drop it or lose it. |
