Continuning to shrink
"In 2015, the Company took delivery of 75 new mainline aircraft, added 52 regional aircraft, and removed 112 mainline and 31 regional aircraft. In 2016, the Company expects to take delivery of 55 new mainline aircraft, add 49 regional aircraft and remove 92 mainline and 29 regional aircraft."
2015 net mainline: (-37) 2016 net mainline: (-37) ----------------------------- 74 net mainline hull loss in 2015 and 2016 Over 740 pilots they don't have to hire to staff (meanwhile, Delta added 37 jets in 2015). Doug also spent $3.6 billion (that's a b) on stock repurchasing. PRASM is down quite a bit. (-6%). Worse than our peers. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix....cle&ID=2133537 |
PRASM is down quite a bit. (-6%). Worse than our peers. Parker is dumping tickets at a price less than the typical cab/limo fare from the arrival airport into downtown. |
Could this "shrinkage" be a way to hedge against a pilot shortage in the future? Less staffing requirements = less pilots they have to flow through from the WOs and hire OTS during a pilot drought.

Any rumors about the e190s going away on the mainline?

I talked to the fleet manager of the 190, who's also the S80 fleet manager awhile back, he said he expects the 190 to disappear from AA.
|
Of the ones being retired how many were flying?
|
Despite the plans to the contrary, I'd be shocked if we didn't keep the TWA EFIS S80s around for quite awhile to fight off Spirit at DFW.
