Tried, can't make any sense out of that 25 year superior seniority comment either...

Wow that's a powerful disincentive they have there to never return. Year 1 pay with no longevity credit??? Ouch

Havin' a hard time figuring out why so many pilots seem to have so much such heartburn over their fellow pilots exercising their contractual rights, too.

There were a few minor (IMO) incentives to come back a long the way; a small profit sharing deal if one were to return a few years ago, and then an offer for one or two years longevity if returning by such-and-such a date. I don't remember all the details. But by choosing to stay out until the bitter end, I have passed up a few small benefits.

I have several UAL friends that have been out on the street since the post 9/11 meltdown, and they are able to return to 10 year pay (something like that), seniority essentially intact, and most can continue to stay away until 2019 if they so choose. Basically, their airline careers are back on track and are whole again if they go back to UAL.

So yes, not much incentive at AA to return, especially with SLI right around the corner, which will most likely result in another kick in the junk with respect to bottom-of-the-seniority-list career progression.

Bingo. Do what you're entitled to. Stay, go, come back, walk away. The answer is different for everyone.

I think the comment was about where the furloughed AA guys were slotted on the list the AA guys submitted.

Agree with slice. Have to do what's right for numero uno.

I don't think anyone is heart-burned about people exercising their recall. I don't pretend to speak for everyone in the peanut gallery, buuuuut I feel it may have a little more to do about this:

Haven't lookd at the proposed lists...

(Seriously... Figure I'll just wait for the arbs' version...)

Would that be somewhere near where they always were on the list?

That is how the ability to defer recall works, iirc.

Yep-

The proposed list is pretty nuts.

LAA 2013 hire going in from of a 1988 LUS capt-somehow.

I don't know too much about it. I figure I'll wait til the real list is announced. Nothing I can do about it anyhow.
