Atlas furloughed pilots in 2009. However the question is would Atlas hire pilots furloughed from another airline. Given that there are plenty of pilots with no airline to return to I don’t see them hiring furloughed major carrier pilots. Furloughed regional pilots are probably a difference story. A furloughed regional pilot could make the case during their interview that they were ready to move on and see the world.

Yeah, I guess that's why I usually don't post before I have my coffee.

Came back from recurrent last week and happy to keep my job. No one can say what the formula is to be hired, but I have seen several new hires from regionals and a mil guy last month on OE. Very sharp, great attitudes. My examiner let us know we recently drew in one T-Bird, but didn’t take 2 B-Angels. B.S? can’t say, not a witness - but I have known this examiner for many years and he is a truth be told middle ground (between company/union) great guy. What I am getting at is: If you want to be here definitely apply cuz you never make the shot you never take. Definitely better qualified people than you or me have not been hired, and of course less qualified hired as well. Anyone’s guess...

*Just be a good person, bad people are exhausting on long haul. Good luck on all your endeavors.

No, but as stated above I’d be shocked if they were rushing to interview furloughees with the current glut of resumes.

I have a friend that is about to be furloughed from one of the big 3, and he interviewed last week, and he was just told that he had been placed in the pool.

That's got to be a relief. Good for your friend.

Good for him. Did they tell him when to expect a class?

There is a hiring approach in which you try to have a mix of backgrounds in every class, and Atlas has occasionally practiced this -- depending the fad at the moment. So if the hiring seems to be "all over the place" that my be a feature, not a bug.

As for not taking 2 Blue Angels, that really is not surprising to me. When looking at such applicants HR is going to be hypersensitive to any indication of "my sh*t does not stink", perhaps to the point of over reading minor things.

Hiring is a black art and very few are any good at it.
