Atlas: The good...

You shouldn't be budgetting on the assumption you'll be getting VX or Outbase. Budget for Min Guarantee. If you make more and want to pay off said debt faster and upgrade to a better lifestyle. More power to you. But if you don't budget to live on the minimum you're setting yourself up for negative outcome. What if the entire economy goes into recession and people's purhcasing power takes a dive? Not saying we wouldn't get to the point of furloughing to stay afloat. But it has happened a couple times at Atlas. So it could happen again. Or the very least we'd all be barely flying and not making over guarantee.

MIN GUARANTEE, and you will never be disappointed - manage those expectations otherwise the industry will do it for you. Speaking of which, PF check was nice at least for myself so I will place it in the “Gravy” category under the current thread title.

Okay. Ask how many 767 New hires are getting OT tips on VX. I would say next to zero. OT on the 767 has all but dried up.
Sure you can pull a trip or two on VX on 777 or 747. But after 19 days of busting your a$$ around the world, and commuting - not sure there is much gas left in the tank for VX.

Aviation is unpredictable. ACMI, even more so. While *on some fleets* and *for the time being* OT opportunities might be plentiful, there is a reason that everyone who has been here for more than 5 years tells people to budget for minimum guarantee. Just because you can make bank VXing *right now*, who knows if that will be the case in 3 months when a new hire hits the line.
Base your budget and long term financial planning on minimum guarantee. If we are blessed enough to continue to be able to make more money than that, then you can pay down debt / buy toys / etc. But anyone who comes to Atlas “needing” to credit a certain number of hours per month in order to make ends meat is setting themselves up for failure.
