That's a long flight on a 777.

You will always have an empty seat on LAX-HKG, our CBA doesn't allow DH on it.
I tried to list for the JS but got a response saying that jumpseaters can't be taken on flights scheduled for more than 16: hours, which LAX--HKG is. Oh well...

That's not correct. Company DH is not allowed, but JSers certainly are under the discretion of the CA. Our union has had a strong stance on this. Please contact [email protected] if you need it.

Thank you! I will reach out.
I called Kalitta hoping to get on them, but was told that due to the govt shutdown, they can't process intl OAL jumpseaters 🤔 I didn't know the FAA was involved somehow...? Utterly perplexed.

Are there allowances for oversized luggage? Like a big heavy duffle bag or something?

I'm with AA. I was denied a jumpseat request ORD-PVG due to Atlas not allowing a jumpseat to mainland China. Is this correct? I am going to escalate this with my jumpseat committee.

I'd imagine far more Atlas pilots jumpseat domestically in the US, vs AA pilots trying to jumpseat internationally.

Some of those flights are blocking over 16:05 hours. There are CBA protections for crew rest on Ultra Long Haul trips over 16 hours limiting who can be on the jet.

After March 10th they are showing 15:45, so it may be allowed. We have flights every 2 or 3 days from ANC to PVG. You could try a connection.

You're probably wrong with all of the AA Miami guys that live in UIO and BOG. Every time I've done that route there has always been an AA guy. Also your attitude stinks.
