Atlas Pilots Opinion Concerning AAWW PAC
 

Been doing a great deal of research regarding the company. From my seat I continue to be impressed. I recently discovered AAWW PAC and noticed all in a leadership roll investing in this.

As an outsider I view this somewhat favorably and see the company leadership walking-the-walk by investing in its political capital. Without trying to be controversial, what is the line pilot's opinion of this PAC?

I do not think this has been covered anywhere in this thread, if so...blame my braincells for not remembering.

This may be true. However, Atlas may actually have a contract sooner than 5 years from now. If management senses that the current contract is (or might soon be) causing enough of a problem with retention and/or hiring, they could open negotiations earlier and offer better contract terms before the 5 year period is up. That has happened at other airlines.

Do I think that is likely? I have no idea, and I don't think anyone else does, either. The hiring situation is VERY complicated, and depends on so many factors outside the control of any airline management or pilot group, that it is very difficult to predict how the hiring boom will affect specific companies.

Some Atlas pilots do jumpseat to work, if they want to. I only know a couple that do this. A good number of pilots drive to start their trips, and they are paid mileage (or the company pays for the one-way rental car).

When Atlas sends you via airline, it may be to your base, or it may not be. For example, most JFK trips do not start in JFK, so they will not airline you to JFK. Most HSV trips do start in HSV, so they will airline you to HSV. Most trips for both JFK and HSV do not end in either JFK or HSV, so you will be airlined to your gateway (or if doing alternate travel) to wherever you and the company have negotiated on.

My experience is I usually airline to the designated location on my last day off, before my pattern starts. I usually airline home either two days before, or one day before, my first day off. Occasionally, I will airline out two days before my pattern starts, or on the first day of my pattern. Very infrequently, I will get home on my first day off (or later)....thus getting home "late".

Yes, even though it would make sense for ANY company that may experience an attrition problem, management (regardless of which company) would rather wait till the amendable date vice getting a CBA done early.

Was wondering the same. Buddy of mine spoke with HR yesterday and they told him they'd been a little busy with the new hires and would get to the other applicants soon.

Nothing here. I've been delaying a trip out of town in order to be around to receive a letter with any news.
